New Haven Rd. between I-74 and Harrison Avenue was expected to be closed through mid-morning Tuesday after a fuel line was broken.

Police said a worker was trying to get a soil sample, and accidentally broke the line feeding the Sunoco station there Monday evening.  About 70 gallons of fuel were released and spilled into the sewer system.

The leak was contained around 9 p.m.

Representatives of the Environmental Protection Agency were called to the scene.

Police hoped to have New Haven Rd. reopened between 10:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. Tuesday.
