(Cincinnati, Oh.)--Multiple Power outages were reported in Florence Kentucky, and the surrounding area Tuesday afternoon. The outage affected hundreds of Duke Energy Customers and multiple traffic lights. About 4,200 people were without power at the peak of the outage around 2:30 p.m. Patrons were asked to leave the Florence Mall after stores lost power.

Duke Energy says an equipment failure in the Florence substation, caused the outage and that the problems were caused in part by road salt. Melted salt-filled snow on the company’s equipment, caused corrosion on about a mile of lines.

Crews are cleaning and repairing the damaged equipment.
