Longtime Villa Hills Police Chief Dan Goodenough will retire immediately. In exchange for his retirement, all charges against him will be dropped.
Goodenough was suspended without pay by Mayor Mike Martin in early March after charges of inefficiency, insubordination, misconduct, and violation of laws.
Last week, City Clerk Craig Bohman testified that the police department routinely turned in time sheets late. Sometimes, he said, they were filled out incorrectly.
There was also an issue of a detective getting a higher pay rate. It was approved by the city council and the mayor in 2010 before Mayor Martin took office.
Goodenough's attorney testified that the mayor did not follow disciplinary procedures or try to work with the chief to fix internal problems.
The agreement was announced after a lengthy meeting Monday night.
