• 2 large sweet onions, each cut into 12 wedges

 

  • 12 strips bacon, halved

 

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

 

  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar

 

  • 1/4 cup molasses

 

  • 2 tablespoons barbecue sauce

 

 

Wrap a piece of bacon around each onion wedge, securing with wooden toothpicks.

 

Place in a 13 X 9” baking dish.

 

Mix together the remaining ingredients and pour 1/2 cup over the onions.  Cover and chill for 1 hour.

 

Grill, covered in a grill preheated to medium for 15 to 20 minutes.

 

Turn frequently and baste with remaining sauce.

 

Makes 24 appetizers.
