CINCINNATI, OH – The wait is almost over, the region’s favorite end-of-summer family event is on the horizon… Fire Up The Night international fireworks’ competition is Saturday, September 22 at Coney Island.
This is Year 7 of the annual competition, which is the only international fireworks’ competition in the USA! Fire Up The Night is sponsored by Dr. Pepper.
This year’s competition features three world-class fireworks’ teams from Germany, France and Mexico, going head-to-head against one another in a pyrotechnic showdown for international bragging rights. Germany, France and Mexico are all returning competitors. Mexico having competed in the very first Fire Up the Night competition in 2012, France in 2013 and Germany in 2014.
The winner will be determined by a 5-judge panel and audience vote. Judging will be based on presentation, structure and scale, colors, originality and music synchronization. Audience voting will open after final competitive display.
Following the international competition, Cincinnati’s acclaimed Rozzi Famous Fireworks will fire up the night in a thundering fireworks’ finale over Lake Como. Rozzi is also the event producer.
There will be plenty of family friendly activities to enjoy in and around the fireworks’ competition. First, all of Coney Island’s great family rides and attractions will be open, beginning at 4 p.m. And, families can also join in the “world’s largest empty-pool party” held in Coney’s massive Sunlite Water Adventure, featuring live entertainment by local band “Marsha Brady.”
In addition to all of Coney’s great family rides and attractions being open, there are other new events happening for families to enjoy.
In Coney’s Moonlite Pavilion, visitors can enjoy the unique cultures of the three visiting countries, with interactive music, dancing, and art displays representing Germany, France and Mexico. “Plus this year, our guests can celebrate the last days of summer with a beer and or glass of wine from those countries as well as indulging on special delights from food trucks,” says Madeline Brown, Special Events manager.
Admission for Fire Up The Night is $25 per carload at the gate and on-line. Admission includes parking, Coney’s rides and attractions, entry to the “world’s largest empty-pool party, live stage entertainment, the incredible fireworks’ displays and more.
