“What will you do to honor veterans in your life?”
or
“How has a veteran made a difference in your life?”
Cincinnati, OH – HONOR FLIGHT Tri- State is a Cincinnati-based non-profit organization created to honor America’s veterans for their sacrifices by providing them a FREE trip to visit their memorials in Washington DC.
Since all of the flights have been cancelled until the Spring of 2021, we wanted to honor the legacy of one special veteran in our area, as we look forward to flying our veterans again! Time has not stood still even with the current COVID crisis and the cancelling of everything, including the things we do to show our gratitude for our veterans. So we are announcing the “Ruth Hartman Memorial “essay contest for this fall.
Ruth Hartman’s passing in August of 2020 is a reminder of all the sacrifices all the veterans have contributed to our country. Donna Hartman, her daughter, said of her legacy, “She was the embodiment of the Greatest Generation, resilient, resourceful, incredibly smart beyond her formal education, frugal but generous, very witty, and very patriotic”. This describes so many of our veterans of all ages.
We, at Honor Flight Tri-State do not want to ever lose our focus. We want students ages 13-18 to remember our history, as we get closer and closer to Veterans Day on November 11th. This essay contest will be a way to reflect and connect our younger generation to our veterans.
