DAV 5K will honor veterans as a virtual event

With health and safety as top priority, DAV (Disabled American Veterans) will hold its 2020 DAV 5K, originally scheduled at The Banks in Cincinnati, as a virtual-only event to be completed anywhere and anytime from Nov. 7-11, 2020. The DAV 5K is a run, roll, walk and motorcycle ride that thanks those who served and raises awareness of the issues our ill and injured veterans face every day. The virtual DAV 5K allows participants to show support for veterans from anywhere they choose.

Virtual event registration, which fuels DAV’s mission of service, is $35 for adults and $20 for VIP Veterans and youth 6-15. Pricing includes shipping of the participant shirt, bib and medal. The DAV 5K is open to individual runners and walkers as well as participants using wheelchairs, hand cycles and motorcycles and groups who wish to form teams now across America. Registration remains open at www.DAV5K.org

As part of the virtual event, DAV will pay tribute to each military branch of service from Nov. 1 through Nov. 7, with a series of video salutes on its Facebook Page, www.facebook.com/DAV5K, with the following schedule:

·Sunday, Nov. 1 (DAV Day and introduction to Space Force)

·Monday, Nov. 2 (Army)

·Tuesday, Nov. 3 (Coast Guard)

·Wednesday, Nov. 4 (Air Force)

·Thursday, Nov. 5 (Navy)

·Friday, Nov. 6 (Marines)

Additionally, there will be a virtual Opening Ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 7, starting at 10 a.m. ET followed by a live broadcast at 1 p.m. ET to celebrate participants of DAV 5K with special guest video tributes. Both programs will be live-streamed on DAV5K.org and www.facebook.com/DAV5K

The DAV 5K is presented by DAV and supported by USAA and Humana.
