Prune Cake


  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup oil
  • 3 beaten eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup chopped prunes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon each: allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla

Beat together the sugar and oil.  Beat in eggs.Blend together the dry ingredients.  Stir nuts and prunes into the dry mixture.Add alternately to egg mixture with buttermilk.Add vanilla.

 Put into an ungreased tube pan and bake in a 300 º F. oven for 1 hour.  Allow to sit for 15 minutes before removing from pan.
