Dr. William T. Sprankles believes education should be bold.
As Superintendent and Chief Executive Officer of Butler Tech, Dr. Sprankles leads with energy, conviction, and an unwavering commitment to ensuring students graduate career-ready and college-prepared. Since joining the district in 2017, he has helped shape a dynamic, student-centered culture across four campuses, 11 associate school districts, and 120 satellite programs.
Known for his big-picture thinking and magnetic presence, Dr. Sprankles has a rare ability to turn ambitious ideas into action. He brings educators, business leaders, and community partners together and challenges them to think differently about what school can be. Under his leadership, Butler Tech has expanded hands-on, project-based learning, strengthened industry partnerships, and elevated authentic, real-world experiences that connect students directly to high-demand careers.
He has played an instrumental role in bringing transformative facilities to life, including three new projects in 2026, the Aviation Center, Advanced Manufacturing Workforce and Innovation Hub, and the Bioscience Center expansion. These spaces are more than buildings. They are launchpads where students earn industry-recognized certifications, gain college credit, participate in co-ops and internships, and prepare to step confidently into competitive, high-skill careers.
Dr. Sprankles is both visionary and deeply relational. He is just as comfortable rallying a room of community leaders as he is connecting with students in classrooms and labs. His leadership helped create signature experiences such as Showcases and The Fifth Day Experience, amplifying student voice and redefining what authentic learning looks like.
His impact has been recognized statewide, including being named Ohio ACTE Administrator of the Year and receiving the Merlin G. Pope, Jr. Leadership Award.
Before Butler Tech, he served as an executive coach and held key leadership roles at Princeton City Schools, guiding school improvement efforts that impacted thousands of students and hundreds of educators. He began his career in the classroom as an English teacher and varsity soccer coach, grounding his leadership in firsthand experience.
Dr. Sprankles earned his Doctor of Education from Miami University and remains a sought-after presenter at regional and national conferences.
