Statement from Mayor John Cranley on Janus vs. AFSCME
“Unions effectively built the American middle-class and give a voice to millions of workers who would otherwise go unrepresented and unprotected. Even if you have never paid dues to a union, you have undoubtedly benefited from the values and ideals that unions represent. Today’s Supreme Court ruling is another in a long line of attacks on the middle-class. Despite this huge disappointment, I have faith that through strong local leadership, and a renewed commitment to elect national leaders who represent working-class values, we will recover from this setback and rise with our voices even stronger. “
