Lunken Airport Aviation Days

Saturday and Sunday , September 1-2

10:00 – 4:00 Daily                            FREE AIRPORT OPEN HOUSE

“ Come and see what we do and why we love it ! “ Lunken airport is home to an amazing array of corporate and private aircraft. Based here too are, historic Warbirds, technologically advanced personal , pleasure aircraft, helicopters and trainers.  A vast variety of aircraft will be on display on the main ramp behind the terminal, on Saturday and Sunday.

The ramp will be open both days to the public for displays, talking to pilots, air traffic controllers, and warbird enthusiasts. We will host representatives from area flying and aircraft maintenance schools. There will be displays of interest for students who want to pursue an aviation career and aviation books.  Peter Bronson and Cheryl Popp, Authors of the “ Legacy of Courage” Honor Flight series will be there to sign books.  Scavenger Hunt for kids , AirCare and firetrucks on display. Take a helicopter ($ 45 per person ). Model Railroad on display. Aviation Artist – learn how to draw an airplane.

Flag ceremony with Color Guard and National Anthem each day at noon.  Big Band  and patriotic music all day !!  Listen to the tower live !

See the new 911 memorial display . Big shade tent – you can eat inside !

The EAA will have their touring Flying Fortress – B 17 “ Aluminum Overcast “ on the ramp from  August 31- September 3, giving rides and tours “Aluminum Overcast is an example of the American heavy bomber that helped turn the tide of World War ll. You can see and tour this historic aircraft – and actually fly a mission.
