EASY HOT BUTTERED CIDER WITH “SPIRITS”
Half gallon apple cider (I like organic)
6 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup dark brown sugar, packed
Cinnamon to taste - start with a teaspoon or 2
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
Calvados (apple brandy) or rum (opt)
Simmer cider on stove and add everything. Let cook a few minutes after butter melts. To serve, pour in a shot of brandy. Serve warm with a cinnamon stick for a stirrer, if desired.
TIP:Keep warm in a crockpot on low for several hours. To serve the little ones, omit alcohol.
