Laszlo Molnar of Laszlo’s Restaurant here in Cincinnati went above and beyond. I love their cucumber salad and he graciously shared!!
“I’ll be happy to share the original recipe”, he said. “One of our most requested, and we make huge amounts year ‘round”, he told me.
5 cucumbers, peeled and sliced thinly
1 tablespoon salt
4 cloves garlic, pressed or chopped finely
1 cup ea. sugar and clear vinegar
1/4 cup water
Paprika and sour cream (opt)
Put sliced cucumbers in shallow pan, sprinkle with salt and toss. Let sit at room temperature one hour. Put in colander and drain, put in bowl, add garlic and stir well. Whisk sugar, vinegar and water together until sugar dissolves. Pour over cucumbers and mix. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Top each serving with sour cream and paprika to taste, if desired. Serves 8.
