Winter potion from Rita. Give it a try!

I enjoy a cup of this somewhat piney tasting tea with lemon and organic raw honey added.  I have been making this for years (my original recipe goes back to 2012).  It has lot of vitamin C and is a good expectorant. My research showed that the native Americans enjoyed this tea.

But, it looks like there’s a few cautions that need to be observed that I didn’t talk about in our casual conversation on Ron’s show Sat Dec 29 2018.

So here’s the sites I found for good information, along with my recipe for tea. As I’ve noted in the recipe, always make sure of a positive ID and only use clean, unsprayed, healthy young white pine needles.

And do your homework before making the tea so that you can make a sensible decision as to whether the tea is good for you personally.

The Amazing All-Purpose Pine Needle Tea - Dave's Garden

I use white pine needles, and like the younger needles.

1/3 cup white pine needles

3 cups water

Organic raw honey

Fresh lemon

Bring water to a boil in a non-reactive pan and stir in pine needles. Lower to a simmer (do not continue to boil) and simmer 15 minutes or so. Strain before drinking. Can be served hot or cold. Keep in refrigerator up to 1 day.

Tip: Pick only clean, unsprayed white pine needles. Make sure you have a positive ID.
