Ornamental grasses are now beginning to put on their late summer / fall show!.Here are 3 grasses that I enjoy, as they all exhibit a tinge of red in their leaves!(yes, can be planted in containers as well)
Burgundy Bunny Fountain Grass (Pennisetum) – Petite, including its short stature, narrow green leaves, and small tufted flower plumes. The foliage begins to show red colors in summer, followed by blazing red colors for the fall.
Red Baron Blood Grass (Imperata) – Leaves are green with red tips that become an intense red as the summer progresses.Very dramatic- less aggressive than other Imperata selections.(12-15 inches tall)
Shenandoah Switch Grass (Panicum) – Bluish green foliage begins turning burgundy red by late June, covered late in the season with reddish pink flower panicles.
